At THIS IS HOLLAND, you will fly over the Netherlands as though you were really there. Behind that flight lies a combination of filmmaking, technology, special effects and meticulous attention to detail.
Everything was created with one goal in mind: to make you feel as though you are really taking off and flying over the most beautiful places in the Netherlands. From impressive aerial footage to wind, scents, mist and moving seats, every element works together to make the Flight Experience feel completely lifelike.
Behind the
scenes
Before you take off at THIS IS HOLLAND, an entire journey has already taken place behind the scenes. A journey across the Netherlands, past water, wind, cities, landscapes and the places that make our country so recognisable.
On this page, we take you through the process of creating the Flight Experience. From the images on the giant screen to the effects you feel in your seat, everything has been carefully synchronised to bring the Netherlands to life as realistically as possible.
Across the
Netherlands
A flight across the Netherlands isn’t captured from just one place. Using a helicopter and drones, we travelled across the entire country: from the coast to the countryside, and from lively festivals to iconic windmills, waterworks and wide-open landscapes.
Filming didn’t always happen under perfect conditions. Cold, wind, rain and long shooting days were all part of the process. And that’s exactly what makes the experience feel so real: Dutch weather, Dutch landscapes and Dutch stories, all captured in one seamless flight.
From image to experience
A beautiful shot is only the beginning. To transform it into a complete experience, every detail has to be right: the rhythm of the images, the movement of the seats, the wind, scents, mist and sound.
Behind the scenes, each detail is timed precisely. When do you take off? When do you feel the speed? At exactly which moment does a scent or gust of wind reach you? It is these small moments that ensure you are not simply looking at the Netherlands, but genuinely feel as though you are flying over it.
The build-up to
the flight
The experience begins before you even take your seat. During the first two shows, you will discover how water, wind and ingenious solutions have shaped the Netherlands. This context makes the flight even richer: you will not only see beautiful places, but also gain a better understanding of what makes them special.
Jolijn Henneman guides you through this story. Drawing on her experience in theatre and film, she brings history, landscapes and the overall experience together in an accessible way. This is no dry history lesson, but an immersive introduction to the moment when you take off.

How long does a visit last?
A visit lasts approximately one hour. The experience consists of four parts: two informative shows about Holland, the 9-minute flight, and the Holland Lounge.
Do I need to book a time slot?
It is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended if you want to be sure of experiencing the attraction at a specific time. You can reserve a time slot when purchasing your ticket. We recommend arriving 15 minutes before your chosen slot.
From what age can children participate in the flight?
For safety reasons, children under 4 years of age and shorter than 100 cm are not permitted to participate in the flight experience.
